Week of the Young Child

This year's Week of the Young Child is celebrated by Wetsern New Mexico's Early Childhood Programs with a series of events honoring children and the people of Grant County who teach and support them. Week of the Young Child is sponsored by the National Association for the Education of Young Children and is celbrated all over the United States. The theme of this year's celebration is "Young Years Are Learning Years."

Activities are scheduled Tuesday through Friday:

Today the Child Development Center will host an Ice Cream Social at 3 p.m. honoring representatives from the Associated Students of WNMU. Wednesday there will be a Student/Family Appreciation potluck hosted by the Early Childhood Education faculty honoring students, teachers, and community members. A Hat Parade by infants to preschoolers will show-off festive hats they have created on Thursday. The week will end with a picnic lunch on the upper playground with children and their families on Friday.
